Europe ’09

So we’re about to go on a trip to Europe.

The itinerary, for those interested is:

Friday May 1st: Depart Melbourne , land in Singapore that night. Spend the weekend with Scott’s sister, Leah, her husband Lachlan and the kids, Sierra and Cooper.

Sunday May 3rd: Leave Singapore, land in Frankfurt that night. Find our accommodation and sleep for a day. (Two year olds with jet lag aren’t too pleasant.)

Tuesday May 5th: Drive to Netherlands to catch up with some of Sharon’s school friends that she hasn’t seen for close on 20 years.

Wednesday May 6th: Drive back to Frankfurt to pick up Emma and Nate Parker who will be joining us for a week. Head to the Black Forest. This is where things get flexible.

We’ll then head across the south of Germany to Austria. In Salzburg, Sharon and Emma P will go on the Sound of Music tour. Emma P wants to show us a town, St Wolfgang. Then on to Vienna where Emma and Nate will fly home and the Johnson family will catch a train to Venice, Italy, around May 12th.

From the 12th of May to the 25th of May we’ll be touring around Italy in the following order: Venice, Tuscany, Sorrento/Amalfi Coast, Rome.

Monday May 25th: Fly from Rome to Athens. We’ll spend a day or two in Athens. Then when the whole Parker family (Woz, Emma and Nate) join us we’ll head out to the Greek islands (we’ve been told that we HAVE to go to Santorini).

Via Samos, we’ll make our way to Kusadasi, Turkey, where we’ll spend a few days looking at ancient ruins and beaches. Then we’ll make our way to Istanbul, where we’ll catch up with another of Sharon’s school friends and eat baklava for a few days – or until it hurts.

Sunday June 7th: Leave Istanbul landing in Singapore the next day. We’ll leave the girls with Aunty Leah and Uncle Lachlan  (Leah offered…) and head over to an Indonesian resort for two nights. Then back to Singapore.

Friday June 12th: Depart Singapore to return home to Melbourne. Sigh.
