I found a recipe for ice cream on another blog that I’ve been reading. It’s a lady in the US who chats about her life, being a Christian, and a Mum. I really like her style and her attitude. Anyway, one of the recipes was for making ice cream without an ice cream maker. Of course I was instantly intrigued!
I marched myself down to the supermarket to get the ingredients, and Faith and I had a project!
I forgot that I didn’t have an electric mixer when I looked at how to make it, and the cream needed to be whipped, but I already had all the ingredients, so I thought I’d give it a go with the whisk, and some old fashioned elbow grease! It worked.
I must interject at this point and mention that this has in no way made me reconsider the need for a KitchenAid in my kitchen, however I managed to “old school” it just this once!
The hardest bit was explaining to Faith that we had to wait for the ice cream to set in the freezer! I struggled as well, for my four year old it was nearly impossible! We managed to wait it out though, and the results were great!
